   若不得不分离，也要好好地说声再见，也要在心里存着感谢，感谢他给了你一份记忆。

   长大了以后，你才会知道，在蓦然回首的刹那，没有怨恨的青春才会了无遗憾，如山冈上那轮静静的满月。

   2007年8月8号至16号，钟大和我自驾车旅游了泸沽湖和丽江，享受了美丽的风光和无限的乐趣，在我们心中留下了一份难忘的美丽回忆。

   本次旅行的分工很简单，钟大负责开车，我负责记帐。钟大特地为这次旅游买了一个数码相机，而我带着去年买的数码摄像机，准备把沿途看欣赏到的美景和险境拍摄下来作为旅行的纪念。

   8号下午3点，我们租到一辆吉利金刚轿车，还是新车，看起来挺不错的。我们首先到汇通超市买了矿泉水和零食，然后在小关门加满汽油，怀着兴奋和期待的心情，从泸州出发，驱车直奔宜宾。在8天的时间里，我们途径屏山、新市、马湖、雷波、昭觉、西昌、盐源、泸沽湖、宁蒗、丽江、大理、昆明、嵩明、待补、昭通、盐津、筠连、珙县、长宁、江安，然后回到泸州，整个旅程总共2400多公里，平均每天行驶300公里。

   泸沽湖的水和岛，丽江古城的小桥流水，固然都十分美丽，令人流连忘返，但是旅行最大的乐趣还是在路上。无论是险路上的颠簸，高速路上的飞奔，峡谷间穿行时的激流声，还是高山间飘浮的云雾，一切的一切，都带给我们无比的兴奋和喜悦，特别是从丽江到大理途中看到的千姿百态的云朵，更是令我们惊叹不已，在泸州永远也欣赏不到那么美丽的云彩。

   这是钟大和我第一次结伴远行，相处非常融洽，充分享受了自驾车旅行的乐趣，这不，我们又开始相约明年的远行了。

   生命的化妆

   我认识一位化妆师。她是真正懂得化妆，而又以化妆闻名的。

   I know a makeup woman who really understands makeup and is wellknown for it.

   对于这生活在与我完全不同领域的人，我增添了几分好奇，因为在我的印象里，化妆再有学问，也只是在皮相上用功，实在不是有智慧的人所应追求的。

   I feel a little more curious about her who lives in a field totallydifferent from mine, because makeup just works on appearances in myimpression even there may be some learning in it, which reallyshould not be pursued by a wise person.

   因此，我忍不住问她：“你研究化妆这么多年，到底什么样的人才算会化妆？化妆的最高境界到底是什么？”对于这样的问题，这位年华已逐渐老去的化妆师露出一个深深的微笑。她说：“化妆的最高境界可以用两个字形容，就是‘自然’，最高明的化妆术，是经过非常考究的化妆，让人家看起来好像没有化过妆一样，并且这化出来的妆与主人的身份匹配，能自然表现那个人的个性与气质。次级的化妆是把人突显出来，让她醒目，引起众人的注意。拙劣的化妆是一站出来别人就发现她化了很浓的妆，而这层妆是为了掩盖自己的缺点或年龄的。最坏的一种化妆，是化过妆以后扭曲了自己的个性，又失去了五官的协调，例如小眼睛的人竟化了浓眉，大脸蛋的人竟化了白脸，阔嘴的人竟化了红唇……”没想到，化妆的最高境界竟是无妆，竟是自然，这可使我刮目相看了。

   Therefore, I could not help asking her, "You have studied makeupfor many years. What kind of person knows how to wear makeup? Whatis the highest state of makeup?" This aging makeup woman showed adeep smile to such a question. She said, "The highest state ofmakeup can be discribed with one word 'naturalness'. By veryparticular makeup skills, the wisest face-painting leaves noartificial traces on her face, and can match her status as well asnaturally embody her personality and temperament. The secondarymakeup makes her eye-catching and absorb everyone's attention. Thebad makeup shows very obvious traces which is used to conceal herage or weaknesses. The worst makeup distorts her personality anduncoordinates her facial features, for example, a small-eyed womanmakes up heavy eyebrows, a wide-faced woman makes up a white face,and a broad-mouthed woman makes up red lips……" I had not thoughtbefore that the highest state of makeup is actually non-makeup ornaturalness. Her words really made me regard her with specialesteem.

   化妆师看我听得出神，继续说：“这不就像你们写文章一样？拙劣的文章常常是词句的堆砌，扭曲了作者的个性。好一点的文章是光芒四射，吸引人的视线，但别人知道你是在写文章。最好的文章，是作家自然的流露，他不堆砌，读的时候不觉得是在读文章，而是在读一个生命。”

   The makeup woman saw I was entranced with her words, and continued,"Isn't it like your writing articles? The poor articles just stuffwords and sentences, and distort the writer's personality. Thebetter articles aborb others' attention with their gloriousradiance, but others know the articles are being written. The bestarticles reveal the writer naturally. He does not stuff words andsentences, but you feel you are not reading an article but alife."

   多么有智慧的人呀？可是，“到底做化妆的人只是在表皮上做功夫！”我感叹地说。

   What a wise woman she was! But I exclaimed, "Anyway makeup justworks on appearances!"

   “不对的”，化妆师说，“化妆只是最末的一个枝节，它能改变的事实很少。深一层的化妆是改变体质，让一个人改变生活方式。睡眠充足、注意运动与营养，这样她的皮肤改善、精神充足、比化妆有效得多。再深一层的化妆是改变气质，多读书、多欣赏艺术、多思考、对生活乐观、对生命有信心、心地善良、关怀别人、自爱而有尊严，这样的人就是不化妆也丑不到哪里去，脸上的化妆只是化妆最后的一件小事。我用三句简单的话来说明，三流的化妆是脸上的化妆，二流的化妆是精神的化妆，一流的化妆是生命的化妆。”

   "No," she said, "Makeup is just the last matter, which can changeher very little. The deep makeup is changing her constitution andlifestyle. Sufficient sleep, sport and nutrition can improve herskin and spirit, which is more effective than makeup. The deepermakeup is changing temperament, reading, appreciating art,thiniking, being optimistic about life, confident in life andkind-hearted, caring for others, and self-respecting with diginity.Such a person cannot be ugly even without makeup, because thefacial makeup is just the last trifle of the whole makeup. All inall, the third-class makeup is the makeup on faces, thesecond-class makeup is the makeup of spirit, and the first-classmakeup is the makeup of life."

   化妆师接着做了这样的结论：“你们写文章的人不也是化妆师吗？三流的文章是文字的化妆，二流的文章是精神的化妆，一流的文章是生命的化妆。这样，你懂化妆了吗？”我为了这位女性化妆师的智慧而起立向她致敬，深为我最初对化妆师的观点感到惭愧。

   Then she made such a conclusion, "Aren't you writers makeuppersons? The third-class article is the makeup of words, thesecond-class article is the makeup of spirit, and the first-classarticle is the makeup of life. Then, have you understood the pointof makeup?" I rose and saluted to the makeup woman for her wisdom,and felt ashamed of my original views on makeup persons.

   告别了化妆师，回家的路上我走在夜黑的地方，有了这样深刻的体悟：在这个世界一切的表相都不是独立自存的，一定有它深刻的内在意义，那么，改变表相最好的方法，不是在表相下功夫，一定要从内在里改革。

   After I waved good-bye to her, I walked in the dark on my way home.A profound understanding came to my mind, "All appearances in theworld do not exist independently but have their profound intrinsicmeaning. Then the best way to change appearances is not working onappearances but reforming from inside. "

   可惜，在表相上用功的人往往不明白这个道理。

   It is a pity that those working on appearancesoften do not understand this reason.

   小溪

   家就在长江边，滔滔江水日夜悄无声息地流啊流，就一直以为流水是没有声音的，就应该是静悄悄的。去了一次山里，住宿地就在溪流的旁边，夜里睡不着，听见溪水哗哗地流，却不吵人，更增加了夜的静谧。

   My home is at the Yangtze riverside. The river flows silently dayand night, so I always think the running water is soundless andshould be silent. I once went into the mountains and lived just bya brook. At the night, I stayed awake and heard the brook gurgling.The sound did not disturb me but deepened the serenity of thenight.

   却不料第二天白天下午，狂风大作，雷雨交加，大雨倾盆而下。到了夜里，倒下床，睡意阵阵袭来，耳边却是溪水的轰鸣，轰轰轰轰……，这哪里是住在青山绿水的山涧，简直就是住在机器不停运转的生产车间啊，太不习惯了！

   Unexpectedly, it rained cats and dogs with gale and thunder on thenext afternoon. At the night, I fell on the bed and the sleepovercame me, but the rumble of the brook came to my ears. Boom!Boom! Boom! …… Did I live at the mountain streams? No, I simplylived in a production department with machines running ceaselessly.Too unaccustomed to it!

   一夜辗转反侧，天亮了，住在隔壁的人一脸没睡好的表情说，太吵了，声音太大了，没想到啊，没想到，根本无法入睡。

   All night I tossed and turned restlessly. When day broke, my friendnext door said with a weary expression, "Too noisy! It is toonoisy! I hardly think I could not fall asleep lastnight."

   我们都没想到，溪水也可以发出这样大的声音。雨季的小溪是热情奔放的，是喜欢激烈冲撞的，是呼朋引伴奔走呐喊的。它不再安静，不再清冽，不再妩媚，不再娓娓动人。这个季节，它一路跑来，高喊着：我就是这大山的主人！

   We have never thought the brook can make such a loud sound. Thebrook in the rainy season is so passionate that it enjoys fiercecollision, ganging up, rolling on, and crying out. It is no longerquiet, clear, lovely or tender. This season, it is running all theway, and shouting "I am the master of the mountain!"
